Day #17, Monday Sept 21, our Half Way Point in the March. We come in from Yass, stay overnight, then the next day set out for Gunning in the Upper Lachlan Shire.  Here the little town of Jerrawa has a special surprise for us: camping at exactly the same spot as the original Kangaroos.

The Original March:  What Happened

After leaving Yass on the morning of the 17th of December, the march headed towards the small town of Jerrawa.  They were welcomed by the townsfolk and attended an evening concert organised by the local schoolmaster, Frank Hundt, and his wife Isabella. Frank Hundt was the son of German immigrants and he would enlist in Goulburn after the march (despite the fact that he was nearly forty).  Frank would serve with the 17th Battalion in France as a Lewis Gunner before being invalided home with enteritis just after the end of the war.

Enlist now to march in the Kangaroo March Re-enactment.
